Bonnet wind stone deflector fitted on a Ford Transit Custom

A bonnet deflector — also called a bug guard or stone guard — is a shaped panel fitted along the front edge of the bonnet. It helps protect the bonnet edge and paintwork from stone chips, insects and road debris, and gives the front of the vehicle a bolder look. Cappafe bonnet deflectors are made for a specific make, model and year range, so the shape follows your bonnet line.

What a bonnet deflector does

  • Helps guard the leading edge of the bonnet, where most stone chips happen.
  • Reduces the build-up of insects on the bonnet edge on motorway journeys.
  • Adds a sporty, rugged style — popular on vans, pick-ups and SUVs.

Choosing the right one

What to check Why it matters
Exact vehicle and years Bonnet shapes change between generations and facelifts, e.g. Transit Custom 2012–2017 vs 2018–2023
Fitting method Most models come with a fixing kit; some newer models are stick-on (no drilling)
Thickness Listed on each product page, e.g. 3 mm or 4 mm
Finish Black as standard; some models also come in matt

Our deflectors are made from acrylic or ABS and are manufactured by Cappafe in Türkiye. The material, thickness and finish are shown on every product page.

Fitting tips

  1. Wash and dry the bonnet edge before fitting.
  2. Offer the deflector up first to check the alignment before fixing.
  3. Follow the installation instructions in the box — a fixing kit or adhesive strips are included, depending on the model.
  4. Make sure the bonnet opens and closes freely after fitting.

Bundle and save

For many vans we also offer sets that combine a bonnet deflector with a sun visor, a front bumper lip or a rear bumper sill protector, so the front end matches.

FAQs

Will a bonnet deflector stop all stone chips?

No accessory can stop every chip, but a deflector helps protect the most exposed edge of the bonnet.

Do I need to drill holes?

It depends on the model. Stick-on versions need no drilling; other models use the fixing kit supplied. The product page tells you which.

Is it an original manufacturer part?

No. It is an aftermarket accessory made for your specific vehicle.
